"Tulsa police Saturday night were investigating the death of an unidentified man found shot in the chest near a housing complex at 36th St North and Quaker Avenue. The shooting occurred at the Comanche Park complex shortly after 7 pm."
From the TulsaWorld, 12/27/1971: "Shooting Victim Identified"
"The victim of a Christmas night shooting at a northside housing project has been identified as Billy Joe Calloway, whose age and address were not immediately available. Police said the shooting occurred shortly after 7PM at the Comanche Park complex, 36th Street North and Peoria Avenue. Calloway was dead on arrival at Hillcrest Medical Center. No arrests were made Sunday in connection with the shooting."
Calloway's age was found from a previous marriage record posted in the TulsaWorld in Sept. 1971. His birth date is unknown.
Another shooting also occurred Xmas Eve (the night before) at the same apartment complex, the newly built Comanche Park Housing Project. 18-year-old Rose Marie Brown apparently wounded her husband and daughter with a gun after an argument over taking their daughters to Arkansas for Christmas. There is no indication the two shootings appear to be related to eachother.
