| Synopsis: On October 22, 2010, the body of Richard Dwane Markham Sr., 48, was found in his home in Osage County at 625 North 28th West Avenue. He lived alone and was found dead from a gunshot wound after a welfare check due to no contact with his family. This home is the same home of another unsolved murder - Freda Johnson, who was shot to death during a home invasion in 1999. Interestingly, property records show that the home is still owned by "Freda Ingrid Johnson Taylor, Et Al." The same owners have had the property since 1997 or 1998, and may have been renting it out to Markham in 2010. It doesn't appear the two murders are related, but its unclear as not much was made known about how Markham died. There were barely any news reports or public details about his murder. Markham had a brief criminal record for drug dealing, and served time in prison from 1994 to 2003. Records indicate Markham dealed marijuana and controlled substances. I found one news report from a FOX station years ago, which I believe to be a transcript of a newsclip run on the TV station, but it has since been deleted. This is it copy and pasted from my old archived report: Richard Markham was discovered deceased inside his residence from a gun shot wound. "I never knew him but I would see him a lot he seemed like a real nice guy though," says Markham's neighbor Brandon Turner. He lives across the street from Markham and can't remember the last time he saw his neighbor alive. "We usually see him throughout the day all the time we see him a lot coming and going," says Turner. Police say when Markham's family hadn't heard from him they called police to check on Markham. When police arrived Markham was found shot to death in his home. It's a home spooked with violence. Turner says as a kid he remembered the murder of another woman [[Freda Johnson back in 1999]] in the same home. |
