From NewsOn6, 10/23/2011: "Tulsa Police Locate Homicide Victim’s Missing SUV" "TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Police say a family leaving their house Sunday morning discovered the body of a shooting victim on their front lawn. Sergeant Jeff Cealka of the Tulsa Police Department told the News On 6 they received a “man down” call at about 9:20 a.m. from a residence near East Ute Street and North Jamestown Avenue. “The family came out to leave and saw the man lying in their yard and called us,” Cealka said. Neighbors say they heard shots fired between 9:45 and 10 p.m. Saturday night, but no one called the police, he said. The victim has been identified as Terrance Jamond Jones, 36 of Tulsa. “There is no motive known at this time and very few leads to follow,” said Sergeant Dave Walker of the TPD Homicide Division. “Homicide detectives believe Jones had been dead for at least several hours prior to discovery.” Police have no suspects at this time. They have discovered that Jones’ SUV is missing, and ask for the public’s help in locating it. The vehicle is described as a maroon, four-door 2007 Ford Explorer with Oklahoma tag 076 DEB. UPDATE: Tulsa Police say an anonymous caller helped them locate Terrance Jones’ maroon-colored Ford Explorer in a business parking lot in the 3500 block of East Ute Street."
From the TulsaWorld, 10/25/2011: "Tip leads police to abandoned SUV, links to dead man" "Police located the vehicle belonging to a man found dead Sunday morning thanks to an anonymous tip, but the motive behind the slaying remains under investigation. The tip led detectives Sunday to an abandoned Ford Explorer that belonged to Terrance Jamond Jones, 36, who was found dead about 9 a.m. Sunday near the 3500 block of East Ute Street with multiple gunshot wounds. A family found Jones dead in their yard Sunday morning. Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker, lead homicide detective, said there is no apparent connection between Jones and the house or neighborhood in which he was found. "We think he just that's where he died," Walker said. Police announced they were looking for his vehicle Sunday and found it thanks to a tip from someone who saw the information in media reports. Walker said that finding the vehicle will help put some of the pieces together. "We believe that's where he was shot," Walker said. "We believe finding the car needed that evidence." The vehicle was found in the parking lot of a business nearby, Walker said. Walker said it appears the man did not travel far from where he was shot to where he died. Detectives also believe he may have been shot sometime after 10 p.m. Saturday. However, a motive to the killing remains unclear. Jones had a prior possession of a controlled substance conviction in Washington County in 1998, but has since had no other convictions, according to court and Oklahoma Department of Corrections records. Walker said detectives are still investigating whether the homicide was related to drugs. Jones' death was the 43rd homicide in Tulsa of 2011. Anyone with information about Jones' whereabouts Saturday night or anyone with suspect information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS, the homicide tip line at 918-596- 2677 or email cityoftulsa.org."
